Hi all,
I was wondering are those parts in the <LDRAW>\parts\s dir official
parts? Because there are some very strange parts there.
Why not add some sort of triangle and rectangle facing information, so
all polygrams can be assigned clockwise vertexes (see my 'dirextx and
.dat' topic).
I have finaly (after two weeks of freetime experimenting) constructed an
algoritm that is capable of calculating this information, currently
about 98% correct. But the problem is the time needed to process a part
is exponential slowing down when the number of triangles and rectangles
increases. For example part 10.dat takes 15 minutes on my AMD Athlon TB
1400. I am still tweaking the algoritimn and store the results for
future use so calculation needs to be done only once.
Sure there are way's around the 'clockwise' problem but i think it would
be nicer to feed 'correct' objects to directx or opengl.
Anyway it would be nice if this information was already in the part files.
Greatings
Roland
