How to 'package' a Thread Part

I'm thinking about doing the 21L thread with grab-rods, which usually appears in
green, as a climbing vine.  Technically, this is an easy part to write, at least
in a static, non-bending mode.  But I'd like to put it together so people could
flex their vines.

I was thinking of making four (small) files:

552.DAT       Thread Heavy 21L w/ End Studs/Grabs (Complete Assembly Shortcut)
552A.DAT      Thread End Stud
552B.DAT      Thread Grab
552C.DAT      Thread Heavy Segment

(I'm also open to suggestions for better names)

The shortcut file, 552.dat, would simply reference the other files:

1 16 -200 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 552a.dat
1 16 -180 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 552c.dat
1 16 -160 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 552b.dat
1 16 -140 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 552c.dat
1 16 -120 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 552b.dat
...
1 16  160 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 552c.dat
1 16  180 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 552b.dat
1 16  200 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 552a.dat

There are 20 joints, allowing 20 bending segments.  This a low number of bends,
it will barely simulate actual bending thread.  But the thread segment is very
simple (it's actually just a reference to a cylinder primitive), so if someone
wanted higher-quality thread-bending, they could easily make their own thread
segments.

Does this sound like an OK approach?

Steve
