(This is a repost of my former posting, which suffered from line wrap. Hopefully I've fixed it - if not let me know:-)

Here is an initial cut at the Technic-style hoses (or tubes, or whatever).  Please let me know how to improve them - this is my
first attempt at creating parts, and all suggestions are solicited.

Notes:
~th9.dat is the shorter hose (approx. 9 studs) and ~th12.dat is the longer one (approx. 12 studs).  I don't have any other lengths -

if
there are any, let me know.  Also, anyone got any part #'s for these?

These are straight configurations of the hoses, i.e., no bends.  I intend to look at John Van Zwietens bezier curve modelling
spreadsheet
in the near future, to see if these can be easily plugged into it.

~th.dat is a single inner cylinder + outer cylinder element that is repeated to create a complete hose.  It in turn refers to
~4-4co89.dat,
an 8:9 ratio cone derived from Steve Bliss's 4-4con12.dat.  It is used to "round" the corners of the outer cylinders.

Each end has a short (1) inner cylinder "stub", which I put there because it's there sometimes.  This could be an artifact of the
manufacturing process, so let me know whether you prefer it or not.

Things I don't like:  in a dead on front view in LDLite, the right (on the screen) cones that round off the outer cylinder's edge
don't seem to
show up the same size as the other cones.  I've checked the numbers a dozen times, and when you blow it up it looks fine.  I am now
convinced
this is an artifact of the shading in LDLite - but should it be compensated for, and if so, how?

Also, oblique views just don't look that good to me - kind of a jumble of edges.  Again, I haven't tried this enough to know whether

it's a
fact of life with this dense a construction, or a sign that I need to keep puttering with it.

Thanks,
Mark David
