Hi all - I’m currently working on the rectangular ball joint sockets and the naming issue (which I have tried to rise up a couple of times) is to me becoming a little critical.

What I’d like is to unify the titles of all seven variants:
  1. the 3LDU original 32174.dat (currently Technic Connector 2 x 3 with Ball Socket) - official part
  2. the 3LDU modern 60176.dat (Technic Ball Joint Socket 3 x 2 with Rectangular Socket) - on PT
  3. the 5LDU original 47296.dat (Technic Connector 2 x 5 with Two Ball Sockets) + hold-voted on PT
  4. the 5LDU modern 61053.dat (Technic Beam 3 with Two Ball Sockets) - hold-voted on PT, I’m willing to rewrite
  5. the 7LDU original 50898.dat (Technic Beam 5 with Two Ball Sockets)
  6. the 7LDU modern 61054.dat (not currently modeled, going to work on it)
  7. the 7LDU modern 64311.dat (not currently modeled, going to work on it)
64311 differs from 61054 by having perpendicular holes with one of them being an axlehole. (64311 on BL)

I’d propose new titles be:
  1. 32174.dat - Technic Ball Joint Socket 3 x 2 Circular
  2. 47296.dat - Technic Ball Joint Socket 3 x 2 Rectangular
  3. 47296.dat - Technic Ball Joint Socket 5 x 2 Circular
  4. 61053.dat - Technic Ball Joint Socket 5 x 2 Rectangular
  5. 50898.dat - Technic Ball Joint Socket 7 x 2 Circular
  6. 61054.dat - Technic Ball Joint Socket 7 x 2 Rectangular
  7. 64311.dat - Technic Ball Joint Socket 7 x 2 Rectangular with Perp. Holes (or something like that)
Then perhaps 32474.dat would become “Technic Ball Joint with Stopped Axlehole” to make sorting perfect.

How’s this? I’d want replies this time. :-)

(...) I think it's a bad idea to have the double-socket parts be named so similarly to the single-socket parts. The double-socket parts are beams with sockets on either end, whereas the single socket parts are sockets with connectors out the (...) (15 years ago, 2-Nov-09, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)
