If you want to do patterns, take a good look at current patterned parts, and
see how they are constructed. Generally, patterns are not as easy as they
might appear - we try to hold up a pretty high standard of quality.
You may have seen a program called bmp2dat. This converts bitmaps to dat code.
It has some usefulness, but its quality is nowhere near what is required. And
then, most patterns must be carefully crafted, and then integrated into the
structure of a piece - not just layed on top.
You are free to build and use any virtual pieces you desire. But only actual,
real-life, pieces are allowed into official parts updates.
