This was a unilateral admin decision to maintain backward compatibility. We
already have 3149a.dat, 3149b.dat and 3149c.dat in the official library, but
used in a way that is contrary to the current practice. Nowadays we try to use
different part numbers for separate components of composite "parts". They were
switched to "~Moved to" files back in 1999, but we should not re-use these
numbers, if we can avoid it, to maintain the integrity of old model files which
might have used them.
In this case we can avoid that problem by using "d" and "e" suffices.
