I found this email exchange between Joshua Delahunty, you and I on L-CAD
from 1998 in my archive

Hmm. I could've sworn I've written e-mail to you, Steve, on this
specifically.
From my database, I have a part number of 30097 for what I call the
"1x6 Large Angled Window, 11H", and in the notes for that entry, I've
got "New element number from net.posting by Steve Bliss, 04-Jan-1997".
The "four-digit" number for this element is 2408. I'm sure I mentioned
this in the e-mail, as well.
The full list...
2408 1x6 Large Angled Window, 11H 30097
2507 4x10 Sloping Window, Hinge Connect, 5M, 2H 30058
3960 4x4 Round Plate (Radar Dish) 30065
4345 Mini-Figure Mailbox, Door Connects, 2H 30060
4346 2x2 Tile Hinge/Door (Mailbox Door), 2H 30059
4865 1x2 Tile, Top/Side Wall 30010
6192 2x4 Curved Arched Brick 30337
The change (so far) has always come when there's been a shift from
opaque to transparent elements (in the case of 2507, most likely
the other way around, actually). I believe (just guessing) that
new molds are required for more exacting requirements of transparently
molded elements.
Another element pair that therefore probably fit this pattern are
6218 4x2 Half-Round Hollow Brick, 4H, Tk Base
and
6259 4x2 Half-Round Hollow Brick, 4H (Transparent only?)
Both came out in 1995, just before "five-digit" numbers started.

| (...) Thanks for reposting this, Chris. I've stuck in some comments below. (...) OK, I *totally* don't remember that. Bizarre (both my memory and the parts with two numbers). 30337.dat was just released in update 2002-01. (...) (don't remember (...) (23 years ago, 20-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
