Well, this is my first post to these newsgroups. I hope you guys can help
with ideas etc...
What I've attemped here is a sort of "proof-of-concept" model. I wanted to
prove to myself (and my brother) that LEGO blocks were a suitable tool for
building properly-sized (that is, able to be used in play) Warhammer 40k models.
The model I chose was a "Rhino" troop transport. Please note that as this
is a conceptual model, I have not attempted to model any details. I've just
sort of done the basic shape.
As anyone who plays WH40K could attest, the basic Rhino design is repeated
in a few other Space Marine vehicles; therefore, if I get this polished up,
being able to create a predator, whirlwind, etc. would not be too much of a
stretch of the imagination.
In addition to any ideas on how to make it more detailed, I was also
wondering if I got the scale right. You see, I don't actually own a rhino,
so I had to eyeball it, referencing the pictures in the rulebook/codex and
on various web sites.
Build time: About an hour in front of the TV, several hours in front of the
computer transfering the model to DAT format (I'd recently reformatted and
had not yet re-downloaded Ldraw etc, so I had to do that, and I've figured
that into the dat creation time).
Oh, and in case anyone cares, I'm also working on a land speeder. It has a
few more odd angles than the rhino, and isn't quite lending itself to LEGO
as well as the rhino.
