(...) Yes, either follow the directions or do it logically (i.e. easy to follow and build for someone without the instructions). Also, Could you try to have the minifig hold the control sticks? I've got this little Insectoid scooter sitting on my desk, and I've been building some alternate models, just to see what I could do.
