Hi All!
While looking at the gearbox in 8448, the new supercar, I felt that,
while it was cool that it was a six-speed gearbox, it was a shame that
the gears were so close together, as this made it impossible to use it
in a setup like the one used in the space shuttle (8480). In that setup,
each 'speed' of the gearbox controls a separate function of the model.
Thus, I set out to make a six-speed gearbox with would allow such a
setup.
After coming up with such a design that I thought was quite reasonable,
I figured I'd experiment a bit with MLCad, and try to turn it into a
.dat file. So, here it is, my first posted .dat file. Enjoy. One of the
fun things about it, I feel, is that it doesn't use any of the special
gearbox covers (2 by 6 half-H-hole plates) used in both the 8480 and the
8448.
There are some parts missing, as they apparently have not been modeled
for ldraw yet, but they are quite obvious, and it is also obvious where
they should go.
