Hi Eduardo,
Here is my opinion about moding SimCity (and games in general) using lego
models. Yes, like lego toy, games have modular design. But lego modularity
is of a much finer granularity. Having modularity at a larger level
(buildings and units) provides poor flexibility. The fun and creativity is
at the brick level. SimCity won't be really a better game with lego
buildings. The same applies to modular castle designs sometimes seen on
brickshelf. Modular design is an effective way to increase size, at the
expense of creativity. At larger granularity than brick, modularity is just
repetition. And repetition is boring.
