I'm relatively new to Lugnet and brand new to the CAD topics.  I'm working
on construction documentation tools.  The overall idea is to create
construction step images (as can be done with LDRAW), and construction step
part list images that show how many of each parts are needed in a given
step.

My parts list image generator works quite well for most parts, but flexible
parts (e.g. hoses, ribbed tubes, rubber bans) cause problems.

The hoses and tubes are not so bad because they have end pieces. In a given
step I can count the number of end pieces, divide that by two to get the
number of hoses, prompt the user for hose length and color, then generate
the image for the part.

Is there an official part for start/end of rubber band?

The program I'm working on is alled LPub.  It uses L3P and POV-Ray to render
step images (with previous steps' parts greyed out) and has its own
algorithm for generating the step part list images.  It also creates an HTML
file that binds all the images together.

I developed it for a constructopedia type book project I'm involved with.
After the book is done, I will be making modifications for web page
descriptions.
