Dear all,
One of the unsolved challenges posed by the authors of the very fine
"Building Robots with Lego Mindstorms" is to construct a robot that propels
itself jumping, rather than walking on legs or rolling on wheels. Neither
pretty nor smart, Jump-O-Bot manages nonetheless to perform the task it's
designed for: maintaining a consistent and sustainable cycle of jumps that
move the robot forward. This 35-piece version is in fact the first prototype
that performs according to those standards. I am releasing it in its present
crude version to encourage building and experimenting by other builders -
how about a Spring-O-Matics contest?
Enjoy,
Miguel Agullo
