Hello everybody -
It has come to my attention recently that the name 'LDraw' in 'LDraw.org' is a
tad discriminating against other brands of building blocks. It's with a heavy
heart that I announce that the site will be changing its name in the near
future, because we all need to be a little more tolerant anyways.
It doesn't take much to figure out that the 'L' in 'LDraw' stands for LEGO. Us
here at LDraw.org have been concerned recently with the discriminatory message
this might send towards clone brands. Clone brand bricks have struggled
against LEGO because of LEGO's superior quality for years.
In order to embrace clone brands as one with the brick, we think this is the
best thing to do. One clone activist told us when we approached him, "It really
touches my heart that you guys are taking this stand. Now, I don't feel like I
play with an inferior product every time I launch LDraw, LDView, or LDLite."
The LEGO Company declined to comment.
We might catch flack for this, but we feel in our hearts we are doing the right
thing.
