Actually, for each color, exists a predefined inverse color, for black,
you get a less than black color, wich is actually a grey color.
If you read the LDRAW FAQ, I believe the colors are described there.
NOTE:
It would be common sense, that if you used the invert color in a .DAT
file reference, and if in that referenced file you used another invert
color reference, in the end you would get the same initial color,
because invert(invert(color)) = color, if it worked like logic
NOT(NOT(true)) = true
But that is Not actually the case, so don't use more than one inverted
color reference in the same file reference branch.
This one has been giving me a headhache.
