My recommendation: fire up your favorite graphics editor, and start playing
with different RGB values until you find one you like.  Then use that value
as a direct color in MLCAD.

If you really can't wait, you can mix two colors in LDraw to make a new
color.  This often doesn't return great results, but it's worth a try.

This is really cool!  Is this covered in the documentation anywhere?  I
could kick my proverbial self for not learning it sooner!

Ah, yah.  Look at <http://www.ldraw.org/faq/>.  Search for "dither".  The
dithering stuff is buried in question 20, under the sub-heading "Colours".

The subheadings under question 20 should be included in the TOC, I think.
And the bit about linetype 1's format should be put into a separate
subheading.
