Well, I got around to releasing ldlite 1.0. It's at (URL). Enjoy. Some fun things I've done: 1. I set up my web server to know that *.dat files have a MIME type of application/x-ldraw, and then associated those files with ldlite. Now I can click on (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad)

(...) ZOWIE!! Yes! Amazing! (...) Another thing you can do is have a CGI script return Content-type: application/x-ldraw instead of text/html or text/plain...that's what I did since I had a CGI script already for extracting article bodies (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Currently ldlite re-parses the file from the beginning when you reload, which is only tolerable because it is so fast. I envision a version that "checkpoints" after each step, saving the bitmap and zbuffer, and starts from the last unmodified (...) (26 years ago, 13-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad)

Paul: A small suggestion for LDLite & its web page. There's no info about setting up MIME for MS Internet Explorer, so here's what I did: Open an Explorer window (or any folder window). Go into View | Options | File Types. Locate the ldlite document (...) (26 years ago, 14-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad)

(...) It should be possible. it's part of creating the file type association in the registry..I'll dig up the data later and post it. (...) Yes, and no, if Netscape can't find a MIME type for something it falls back on the Win95/98 registry to find (...) (26 years ago, 3-Nov-98, to lugnet.cad)
