No, especially since you threw in the 'officially' term. LDLite is compatible
with LDraw. I do not think there is anything you can do with LDraw that you
can't do with LDLite. But there are two draw-backs to LDLite:
1. It only runs on Windows 95, 98 and Windows NT 4+. Not everyone runs one of
these operating systems.
2. The LDLite distribution does not include any parts files. There are a
large number of basic part files which are only available from the last
ldraw.exe download.

If you want to. Be sure to keep everything else from the original ldraw.exe
download, just delete the program file ldraw.exe.

What 'it' do you want to update? You could copy the ldlite.exe file to
ldraw.exe. That's probably not a really good idea, but you could do it.
If the 'it' is LDAO, you can update LDAO to use LDLite instead of LDraw.
Follow the instructions at <http://home.att.net/~blisses/ldao/useldlite.html>,
but instead of creating a new tool called 'LDLite', update the existing 'LDraw
Tool' tool.
