  A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

Here's another alternate model for the X-Wing--what a great set! There are some POV pics at: (URL) also posted the Ldraw file to lugnet.cad.dat. LMKWYT, -John Van (25 years ago, 18-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.starwars)

Re: A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

(...) I just can't believe how wonderfully accurate you made the A-wing look. I was blown away by the B-wing (my personal favorite ship), but I thought the A-wing couldn't be done well with the X-wing parts. I was dead wrong!! Here's what I want you (...) (...) Wow! Excellent! I am impressed. You trying to become a master of alternate models? -- Terry K -- (25 years ago, 18-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.starwars)

Re: A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

(...) Oh, and John, when will you be posting the Deathstar, Star Destroyer, and Millenium Falcon alternates built strictly from X-Wing pieces? :-) -- Terry K -- (25 years ago, 18-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.starwars)

Re: A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

Wow. Be careful, John. Karim Nassar might get jealous. :-) Dave (25 years ago, 18-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.starwars)

Re: A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

(...) I found it more of a challenge than the B-wing. I mostly ran short on plates. And of course red engines would be nice, but we'll have to wait for a real set for that. And better tail fins. (...) We've got the Tie/Y-wing set (thanks to a tip (...) (25 years ago, 18-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.starwars)

Re: A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

(...) At least X-wing alternate models (and eventually Tie alternates as well). Once I can find a second Tie I'm gonna try a Tie Bomber. -John Van (25 years ago, 18-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.starwars)

Re: A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

(...) :-) When I first found RTL last year, I was working on a Star Destroyer. It was about 3 feet long. Unfortunately, I ran low on black plates and eventually gave up. It would be at least reasonably close to Karim's microfig scale SW ships. Well, (...) (25 years ago, 18-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.starwars)

Re: A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

(...) Karim has a genius all his own. That transforming Mecha of his is just unbelievable--in a whole different league as far as I'm concerned. By the way, any chance you'll Ldraw that beast, Karim? -John Van (25 years ago, 18-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.starwars)

Re: A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

(...) I love this model... It's elegance is amplified by the fact that it is a strict alternate model. I'm very impressed. When I built my A-wing, I had a whole collection (20 years worth) of parts to draw upon. (...) Well, unlikely for now. It was (...) (25 years ago, 19-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.starwars)

Re: A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

(...) Oy! A great lost to the Lego world! Do you think you could rebuild it if you wanted to? I was amazed at the dragon/dinosaur model to begin with, but as I read on and realized it transformed into a warrior... Wow! I've never seen Lego do _that_ (...) (25 years ago, 19-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad)

Re: A-Wing Figther (X-wing alternate model)

(...) Thanks :) When I get some long-term free time, I'll probably revisit the model and redesign & rebuild it from scratch, using the lessons that I learned in the first go round. I really consider that model a 1st draft, as I never got around to (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad)
