I did try MPD Wizard but it didn’t really work... perhaps because I’ve got
the unofficial parts mixed with the official parts? I know it’s bad to do it
that way but if I put them into a separate directory (I can pretty easily
find out which parts are unofficial)

That’s what I do too. But I have in another folder an intact official library.
When I run MPD Wizard, I use this reference lib as the LDraw library, and my
regular LDraw folder as unofficial parts path.
