OK, after much research, I must admit that I *did* remember wrong.  I've now
put up another version of the TIE Prototype (v2.5) and it is now very close to
Jeremy's original suggestion.  The change that I made was to allow the
wing-foils to attach forward of their centerline, as the do in the real ship
instead of centerline on the wing.
