Hi Kevin, everything installs great and works when I run it now. When I
tried it out with the following command line:

D:\LDraw\Apps\LDiff>ldiff.exe 4098 d:\ldraw\models\4098_Custom_Plane_1.ldr

I get the following error:

Error: official_model 4098 file not found

Do I need to first create a LDRAW (.ldr) file that has all the parts from
the official set for this to be able to work? I am new to Lego software and
did not know if the program referenced a database that had all the known
parts for that set like Peeron.

Hi John,

Yes, you need to have the reference set in LDraw format.  LDiff ignores color,
placement and orientation, and only tracks part type.  The reference model LDraw
file does not need to be accurate when assembled, only accurate as far as a list
of materials is concerned.

I was told that Peeron might already have the comparison mechanism you want,
but I have not scoped it out myself. I suspect that if such a mechanism exists,
that they would differentiate by part and color.

Kevin

Thanks,
John

I took Philo's suggestion and named my set comparison tool LDiff.  The usage is
still the same:

LDiff.exe <officialset> <alternatemodel>

It is avialable here:
