OK, here’s my problem:

I’m trying to make a pretty complex metropolis scene (40+ submodels) and insert some of my crafts into it. The problem is that these models are made as .mpd files, and importing such, is rather difficult: Working in MLcad, I can see only two possible options:

1) Import as part (all placing- and angleinformation of submodels get lost, together with all 2nd+ level submodels)

2) Import as model (all submodels need to be exported, and afterwards importet one at a time by hand)

The second one gets rather impossible since one of the .mpd’s I wish to import contains some 36 submodels, and the resulting scene’s list of submodels simpely gets too confusing.

My question is: Does anybody have a (windows-) program that can convert mpd to ldr (without loss of crucial info), so that only one file needs to be imported, or, Are there a better program for assembeling scenes than MLcad, that can handle mulitple mpd’s with 2nd+ level submodels, for instance the new version of MLCad, which I haven’t had the time to download?

(...) I am also going to have a big need for this type of utility, hopefully in the near future. Any information on where to find one, or about how to in-line all parts of an MPD to convert it to an LDR file would be very helpful. -Joel (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.cad, FTX)
