As we get closer to BricksWest 2002, the schedule just keeps looking better
and better. This is going to be a SPECTACULAR success...how can it not be
with so many talented folks volunteering their time to present such
wonderful sessions...in fact, let me add another:

Large Sculptures and Mosaics Session - Presented by Eric Harshbarger
(DixieLUG) and Henry Lim (LUGOLA)
A tips and tricks session for fans of lifesize models and mosaics.

There are just a few open slots left on the schedule..if your favorite
theme, technique or genré isn't yet represented, please consider running a
session...your fellow fans will appreciate it, plus you'll be helping to
make BricksWest a roaring success!

Below is the list of other conference sessions being run by AFOL at BricksWest:

LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Sessions - Presented by David Schilling (SMART)
A tips and tricks session for intermediate to advanced MindStorms users, and
a special challenge competition for all comers.

Microfig Scale Presentation and Building - Presentd by Ashley Glennon (SEALUG)
A tips and tricks session for fans of really small models;cross-genré; plus
hands-on building.

Introduction to 3D LEGO-style Modeling with LDraw Tools - Presented by Tim
Courtney (LDraw.org)
Session for new users and people unfamiliar with the LDraw system. This will
include an introduciton to the parts library, file format, second generation
editors such as MLCad and LeoCAD, and Mac and Linux support.

Advanced LDraw Tools: Renderers and Advanced Modeling Tools - Presented by
Tim Courtney (LDraw.org)
Discussion of rendering tools such as POV-Ray, L3P and L2P converters, and
advanced modeling tools such as Hose Generator and Bezier Curve Generator.

LDraw Community Roundtable Discussion - Presented by Tim Courtney (LDraw.org)
Sit and chat with some of the LDraw organizers about the community and
brainstorm ideas for the future of the LDraw system.

Train Building Techniques - Presented by Steve Barile (PNLTC)
Very briefly we'll review the "standard" construction techniques. Some SNOT
design reviews. Motif and striping techniques - decals and color tape.
Examine steam engines: driver wheel alternatives, piston rod linkages, and
articulation techniques. Animated trains - Shay, snow blowers,...

Integrating LEGO Mindstorms With Your Train Layout - Presented by Steve
Barile (PNLTC)
Spinning eye-candy, animated scenes, user interactivity, train control,
signals and crossing gates, custom sensors for trains, motor pulsing.

Anatomy of a LEGO Train Show - from layout design to tear down - Presented
by Steve Barile (PNLTC)
Discussion of layout concepts, module sizes, legs, layout aesthetics, crowd
control, mainline vs. local loops, switching live, audience participation,
play areas, static display areas.

Mecha Sessions - Presented by Bryce McGlone (LUGOLA) and Eric Sophie with
additional special guests
Expect roundtable discussions of building techniques, tips and tricks,
source material and special unveilings, plus a building session featuring
hands on, step-by-step MOC creation (more details to come).

XP .castle Hey castle fellas, Who's going to Brickswest this year? I would love to be there but just can't... still, I bet if you stepped forward and got the act together, you could pull off something at least as big as we did at Brickfest last (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jan-02, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.castle)
