Hey all, heres my second public sculpture - the magical mushroom. Strangely
enough, this one was inspired by a dream involving Smurfs (your guess is as
good as mine :-). Anyways:
Made in two pieces - the stem and the head. The head has cross-beams that
mount to the top of the stem. The most challenging sculpture Ive made so
far, trying to get the curves right with just bricks. Im satisfied with it,
but Id definitely like to try a bigger version in the future. Maybe
different colors...

...one large fly-agaric or two small ones are enough to make an enjoyable day.
Nice rendition of a Amanita muscaria Chris! Do they grow in the wild there
too?
The legend is that the vikings made some sort of soup of it pre-war to get a
little extra crazy, although they would have gotten in a dreamish state instead
:)
Heres a little about what Georg Heinrich von Langsdorf 1809 (same person that
the first quote comes from) has to say about the effects of eating it:
Consequently, if one wishes to step over a small stick or straw, he steps and
jumps as if the obstacles were tree trunks. If a man is ordinarily talkative,
his speech nerves are now in constant activity, and he involuntarily blurts out
secrets, fully consious of his actions and aware of his secret but unable to
hold his nerves in check. In this condition a man who is fond of dancing dances
and a music-lover sings incessantly. Others run or walk quite involuntarily,
without any intention of moving, to places where they do not wish to go at all.
In any case, dont eat it, weather its made of bricks or not :)
