Here’s a technique I’ve been cooking for a while. I chose the CSF banner as
inspiration for my first design in order to start with something at least
somewhat recognizable. I consider the technique more painterly, so I’ll be doing
more ‘art’ with it but using my own subject matter rather than, say recreating
the Mona Lisa. Feel free to try that if it interests you.
Incidentally, I worked directly on the baseplates with bricks (1) and then the
grille tiles. No software was used. Somehow, the tedium of building/rebuilding
is more tolerable for me than the tedium of designing software or planning in
photoshop. YMMV.
(1) Rather than plates because they require fewer ‘brick separator
interventions’ than plates would, especially when ‘unbuilding’.
