After amassing a good size Ninja army...I felt the need to introduce soe
more diversity.....so heres what I came up with.....
One day I was in the mood to build without hauling out all my Rubbermaid
bins of bricks...I was confronted w/ many extra SW, Pirates, Castle, and
Wild West figs that were essentially unused.
Japanese Samurai quite often had elaborate and unique masks affixed to their
helms.....reflecting grotesque or intimidating expressions....
I wanted a couple of these so I designed:
Maulanaga
Black Samurai clip helm w/ red "horse tail" plumes inserted in each side
Darth Maul head
Dark gray armor piece covering a green vest bandit
torso
Black legs w/ red waist
Maul-a-gai
same as above except I used one of the many Green
torsos from the Wild West gambler guy w/ black hands
Upon seeing the first SW figures last year, I arrived at the same conclusion
as many other AFOLs; these qui-gonn, luke, ben, Jar Jar figs can add some
diversity to your Castle collection....At that time (and to this day) I was
working on various Ninja theme experiments. These SW figures are
particularly well suited to my Ninja creations due to their robe designs..
I was finally able to use some old Pirate theme Islander top knot pieces I
had hanging around to add diversity to my Samurai collection....
I took the Luke landspeeder body and added a gray Ninja head w/ top knot
hair to make an heir to the throne for my Emperor fig...
The Jar Jar bodies w/ normal heads and Pirate sock hats make great litter
barers and Galley slaves
I really like the results of adding Ninja accessories and Islander hair to
the qui-gon bodies....
For those of you w/ extra Johnny Thunders....is expression fits in fairly
well w/the nija theme...Just slap on a Gray armor piece and swap his hat for
a helm.
The left over Wild West Gambler, qui-gon, old Kenobi, and Luke heads have
added pleasant diversity to my army
Nothing revolutionary in my designs....but I figured I would share my
thoughts in the hopes that I may derive further inspiration from other
builders experiences...
