Ha!   ...so true!

I can understand why they went with brighly colored good-guys
(worked for BIONICLE), but I'm at a complete loss as to why
they didn't just use primary blue.

That woulda been a nice choice...
Coulda done a lot more with a royal/primary blue.

Maybe it's because Jayko is the newbie of the group, and his
armor color is picked by the other three as some sort of hazing ritual.

That would be truely funny!
If only it worked that way...
However, i have the impression that Jayko, "the wuss-blue-knight," quite
possibly chose the color for himself. You see, i do believe he's the type of
knight that you'd see running the other way during a battle. And he's light blue
like the sky y'know...so he'll likely blend into the horizon when his back is
turned and he's high-tailing it back to his home.
