Well then, Ill have to try that metallic wax-based stuff soon!!!
Wax-based hun?!?
Itll be interesting to see how it adheres to the ABS, and if it smudges?
Heres my attempt at some realism in armor
with some paint-fading technique.

And yes, the weapons ARE made of real metal btw!
I cant wait to see more of your finished products Bruce,

But then, you can always use Bruces solution:

BEAUTIFULL! Not only does it look more realistic, its more evocative of
LOTR, which Im sure would sell with kids as well as adults!

!My sentiments exactly...its crazy how a simple dry-brushing of
metallic silver over a black undercoat can create such dramatic realism...
I pray...seriously pray that Bruce shows more of this type of conversion...
Especially with the light-blue armor, which will look incredible similar
to a jousting helm once it is properly painted!

Despite the fact that I vowed that Barbie Blue (a derisive term that I have
single-mindedly championed) armor would not last in my house, it in fact,
has. Mostly because I have only one example. I have lots of the green guy
now and Ive been meaning to do him (oh wait, I just remembered that I have
one spray-painted black waiting to go!). Anyway, I really like the blue and
green visors. Its the red one that looks like an inverted cauldron. The
purple is good, and I dont care for the black one that much, but at least it
is black, which saves it.
I did not use dry-brush, however. After washing the plastic (the paint
adheres much better if you do), It is then spray-painted black. The metallic
is a wax-based cream rub-on called RubN Buff available at most arts & crafts
stores. RubN Buff comes in tubes, and an alternate brand, Treasure Gold,
comes in itty-bitty tubs. Use extremely sparingly and build the color up
slowly (I wipe most of it off my finger with a tissue before applying).
