In lugnet.general, Adrian Drake writes:
A coworker of mine received this minifig from another coworker who received
it as swag from an Aerospace tradeshow.  I borrowed it to find out what
exactly it is, and if anyone's seen it before.  It's a single fig, all grey
(grey hands, legs, torso) with a female face, a grey helmet, and a gold
visor.  It appears to be a Cosmonaut, I think.  The set number on the bag is
3928, copyright 2002.  It shows no hits on lugnet, brickshelf, or Lego.com.
Has anybody seen this beastie before?  I'm just curious, since it's not
actually my fig (unless it's worth a LOT, in which case I'll see if I can
buy it from my coworker, although its apparent novelty is very appealing to me.)

Here are a couple of pictures:

Success!  These were given away by Lego at the World Space Congress 2002
(http://www.aiaa.org/wsc2002/) which was October of 2002.  Lego had a display
there, which consisted of, among other things, a life size model of the Mars
Pathfinder.  They were giving away a few different varieties of these figs at
the show (my source, who was at the show, also gave me one with a regular
minifig smiley, but he no longer had the bag for it so I don't know what the
set number is)  The Lego display was actually the second most popular one
there.  The most popular was the Dutch National Aerospace Group (whatever it's
called) which was giving away free Heineken samples at 5pm every day :)

I'm hoping to get a few more of these from my source (if he has any more) so I
might be able to put one or two on Ebay, since I've no idea of their value, but
I don't want to hog them all.

Adrian
