Some folks noticed that a few months ago, I took The Minifig Generator
offline. This was because it was transferring about 800 MB of data per
day. I simply could not afford to host it. But, today I'm turning it
back on.

So! Now that I have your attention, I'll ask for your help! For 5 years
now, I've wanted to add new parts to it, but never found time. If anyone
out there would be willing to help, I'd be delighted. I'll add your name
to the credits and, heck, maybe send you something cool!

Read on, if you're interested...

There are only a few things to know:
- the graphics must all match each other VERY closely
- modified/custom figs might be okay,
but they would get their own section
- no, I won't add any 'dirty' stuff!
- think VARIETY! what could make a funny fig?
- think CLASSIC! what are we missing?

The graphics must all:

have the same dimensions,
use the same background,
use colors similar to mine (so all the reds look alike, etc)
be saved as .jpg files,
and meet up with adjacent images VERY carefully.

I remember I scanned them at a big resolution, then shrunk them down and
sharpened them. I set the figs up with each one standing on a 2xn brick,
so it was one stud off the scanner's surface. It's arms needed to be
raised forward a little bit, so they wouldn't show below the waist when
pictures were chopped up, and hands are all positioned alike. (the figs
looked a little like they were doing push-ups on the scanner) Once
scanned, I had to correct any color or lighting oddities, and carefully
remove the backgrounds to replace them with flat color.

That's about it. I can't guarantee I'll use every image you send, so you
might want to try a 'test image' first. You can send one to me via e-mail.

I'd be really, really excited to hear from you.

FYI, the MG is used primarily by young children. They find it VERY
funny, especially when mixing up the 'boy' and 'girl' parts.

(...) Hm. Have you looked at .png? Given the solid-colorness of the average minifig part, .png might be a bit more efficient-- and when you're shovelling around 800 meg of minifig a day, every little bit counts.
