Ahoy!

I've uploaded some pics of the third in my line of SNOT hulled naval ships,
this one is a modern Guided Missile Frigate, fully kitted out for modern
warfare other roles. It was enveiled at LUG'OZ 2002 on Sunday. Blockade
enforcement and Border Protection are popular roles in Australia at the moment.

The Snottler 3 is a massive 168 studs long and has a beam of around 16
studs. It uses *alot* of grey plates... and several star wars wing pieces to
simulate the hull flare. The bow is significantly more angled that the
earlier snottlers. It is modular in construction, and fairly easy to
transport. It can be move in one piece, if enought care is taken...

The Snottler 3 carries a variety of armament: a helicopter armed with
torpedo, rockets and machine gun, two double torpedo launchers, 6 machine
guns, 2 rapid fire 40mm guns, a Phalanx close in defense system (a sentry
gun!) as well as its missile system.

Some of the interior is detailed. The inside of the bow and stern are merely
structural, as is the central part of the superstructure. There is some crew
acconodation and a large engine amidships, a detailed (and sufficiently
large) helicopter hangar and a reasonably detailed bridge.

More (and hopefully better) photos to come.

Cheers

Very Nice Richie,
I'm not into modern ships much (I prefer the old sailing models), but your
models are very impressive.  I love the way they look and the features you
built.  Great job!

(...) Thanks, Tom My main interest is in older ships too. The Snottler series started off as an experiment in SNOT hull building for smaller ships.... an experiment that got way out of hand (Snottler 3.1 is being fitted out at the moment). I aim to (...)
