You can't beat SNOT building for flowing hull profiles, although it doesn't
seem as good for wide ships as it does for narrow. By stepping the plate
offsets (ie 1 stud, then 2, then 3, then 4 or 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4 etc) you can
simulate a curve, but if you try to widen the hull to quickly (eg
1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2 etc), you end up with what looks like an angular, rather
than curved hull.
Fortunately though, most naval ships are quite narrow ;-)
