MP5 and a shotgun will be a good idea. Someone also tried to mention uzi I guess, which is also a good idea.

My personal suggestions will be WWII M1 Garand and a real machine gun like MG3 or similar

That MG3 looks like a wicked weapon! Larger weapons are a bit harder to do. I’m more partial to the one-handed weapons so the minifigs can actually hold them ;) Bipods and Tripod mounts add tiny pieces that will probably just get lost :(
