At a recent city fair, the Marines from Camp Pendleton had a display of some of
their really cool equipment. The best part was they were allowing visitors to
climb in, on and explore the vehicles. Far and away the coolest thing they had
was an LCAC hovercraft. LCAC stands for Landing Craft Air Cushion and is used
for beach landing operations. The image of this thing burned into my brain, and
I went home and built this from memory:
I tried several versions of prop-powered engines. Unfortunately, LEGO makes only
a few sizes of props, and since the rest of the model was finished, I decided to
push this version forward in time and use turbo-jet engines.
Images are in numerical order: lcac002.jpg, lcac003.jpg, etc.
