I'd say try to find some alternate schemes. Perhaps there are some nice
lesser-known schemes for desert, night, winter, etc. that would let you make
use of tan, greys, black, etc.
Are you using invasion stripes?

This might not help much, and would lose a key recognizeable feature of the
Spit', but you might try making a clipped-wing version, which didn't have
the eliptical tip. (They were far easier to produce, and didn't make much
difference to wing performance anyway.)

| I'm working on a new model, and it's gonna be huge. I recently purchased the Lego Sopwith Camel set, and I was really impressed. So I decided to build a Spitfire about that size. Perhaps even a little bigger. I have a 1:32 plastic model kit I am (...) (20 years ago, 21-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.military)
