  Re: Latest MOC: F/A-18 Hornet

(...) Maybe this one will do, it's not 2 by 1 but it's the smallest plane I can make :-) (URL) Teun (20 years ago, 1-Feb-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.build.sculpture, FTX)

  Re: Latest MOC: F/A-18 Hornet

(...) Very nice and detailed! I love it. Now, if only someone could figure out how to build a plane in a space about 2 studs by 1 stud... Then it'd fit on my aircraft carrier. It looks very swooshable, and the total studlessness of it rocks. Great (...) (20 years ago, 1-Feb-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.build.sculpture, FTX)

  Re: Latest MOC: F/A-18 Hornet

(...) Anne, I have not seen a cute fighter before :-) ! Actually, this is pretty darn cool - you managed to get the shape and the feel of the plane in a brick manner. And it's cute! Nice job! Joe Meno .space paparazzi! (...) (20 years ago, 1-Feb-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.build.sculpture, FTX)

Re: Is 1:40 minifig scale? (was Project YAMATO)

(...) I always accord minifigs 1:35 scale, possibly 1:32, because those are the closest "standard military" scales. But also, I go by the average of the minifigs' dimensions, which sort of implies they are 5' tall and very, very broad. So I am (...)   Oh, wow. Wowowow. (was: Re: Project YAMATO)

(...) Jumpei, That is beautiful. Truly a thing of utter beauty. I am currently planning out a true-minifig-scale model of the battleship Fuso ca. 1944, though I am going closer to 1:35 scale given that minifigs are not truly to human propor- tions. (...)   Re: Is 1:40 minifig scale? (was Project YAMATO)

(...) I personally advocate 1 stud to the foot, which is about 1:38. If the stud size is exactly 8mm then it's 1:38.1. If a stud size is 5/16" then it's 1:38.4. There's little difference between the two, unless you build something 14630 plates high (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jan-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military, FTX)

Re: Is 1:40 minifig scale? (was Project YAMATO)

(...) Heh, I've done some checking... (URL) the answer is "whatever you think is right". Minifigs are just built very un-humanly. Very thick front-to-back, very wide, or very short. Or all three. In general, people usually derive scale by minifig (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military)

Is 1:40 minifig scale? (was Project YAMATO)

(...) Is 1:40 minifig scale? I'd like to ellicit a wide number of opnions because I'm just about to start building a (much smaller) minifig scale model. I assumed a minifig to be 6ft tall, giving me a ratio of 1 to 46 (rounded). The japanese are a (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military, FTX)
