Hello! I've lurked around lugnet and brickshelf for quite some time now admiring
the works of some great Lego® miltary builders. After viewing Mattias
Martensson's incredible P-51 and Spitfire, I knew I had to finally get off my
bricks and get to building.

So, I present my first MOC: the P-61B Black Widow, America's first purpose-built
night fighter that entered service late in the Second World War. It is scaled 1
stud = 1 foot and I referenced Squadron Signal's excellent book "P-61 in
Action".

The P-61 saw action in Europe hunting V-1 Buzz Bombs and German He 111 bombers
and in the Pacific chasing Japanese G4M1 "Betty" bombers out of the sky. With
four .50-cal. machine guns in the upper turret and four 20mm cannons in belly it
was a fast and formidable plane.

I apologize that some of the pics are a bit dark--black is difficult to
photograph.

I'd appreciate any feedback from this group and others. Many thanks!

P.S. - Thanks to Chris Paton for highlighting this for me shortly after I posted
it on Brickshelf. I had to wait a while for permission from lugnet before I
could post this introduction myself.

Hi Joey It's nice to put a name to the builder of what I still think is a brilliant MOC! I look forward to seeing more of your work. Thanks. Chris (20 years ago, 23-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) Hi Joey Great work! Good to see that the number of people building military LEGO aircraft is increasing. Your P-61 is really impressive. I like your solution for the cockpit and canopy - always tricky parts of the design. The method of (...) (20 years ago, 25-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.military)
