Hi everyone.  I've been hanging around Lugnet for a bit and stumbled in
here one day.  Of course I was hooked.  So here is a small contribution
to the community- my first military model.  It is the German Marder III
Tank Destroyer (Afrika Corps).  I also have a gray European version of
this one and am working on a snow camo one as well.  I also have three
other German armour and a couple of vehicles that I haven't taken
pictures of yet, so those will have to come later.  So, what do the more
experienced think?

Hi Erik!

Great Model!  I've always loved the Afrika Corps color schemes, but finding
enough tan is always a challenge.  I really like how the light grey,
interspersed with the tan (on the barrel, for instance), looks - nice
highlighting and use of another color.

Technically - what a nicely done model!  The scale seems right, nice and small
with the thin treads.  I spent awhile looking at
http://www.achtungpanzer.com/marder.htm (the Marder III/Sd.Kfz139 is near the
bottom) for comparison, and I was impressed with your rendition.  My one nit
would be in the wheels - the pictures I found showed the wheels more closely
spaced, with a trailing geared wheel that's the same size as the leading one.
I'm guessing that the limitations of LEGO played a role in your layout there,
though.  The two bushings used as return spindles look great, though, as does
that gun.

And I have to say that I love your custom WWII figures ... let us know when you
have them all available at your Bricklink store, I'll have to make sure I order
a couple of the brilliantly-done officers.  The Iron Crosses/Knight's Crosses
look fantastic!  Now, what is being used as the helmet on the European Theater
soldier?  I'm assuming that it's a custom piece?

I can't wait to see your other offerings ... Lindsay will be very happy to hear
that there's a Panzer II going to be showcased soon, since he's a big fan of
the earlier tanks.  Great work!
