On the peaks of the bungalow roofs, are there fences embedded in there to
give that cool effect? If not, what did you use to achieve that effect?

nice to hear from you! glad you like my little getaway place. and yes,
those are embedded fence pieces to get that little detail on what would have
otherwise been a really boring roof line. in my post, i forgot to give
credit to my fellow lug member and building slave (sorry, janey) jason
allemann who did exactly what i asked him to, what a nice, obedient boy he
is, wink! it was my idea but he made it happen without any mutilation. i
like the way it turned out, even though i had to rebuild the structure to
accommodate the extra stud.

A very clever technique. I assume there are tiles placed alongside the fence
to build the thickness up to a full stud width? How are the tiles held up?
I played around with a picket fence and two 1x4 tiles and was able to get the
same look but Im not sure how to hold the tiles up at the right height. Or
are they just wedged in?
|
yes, there are tiles to fill in the gap, and squeezed between the roof slopes
theyre in tight, but to keep them from falling through, there are 1x2 technic
bricks with 1/2 pins placed at the right level underneath the tiles to keep them
from falling through.
