Personally, I dont mind studs at all and as a matter of fact, they remind me of
my childhood so I say buck the trend!! Long live studded construction! :-)
And Im afraid that Im not familiar with the three color rule - is that
something that some MOCers made up somewhere?

I know its only microscale, and it is a capital ship, but I think some well
thought out landing gear would be a plus.

Based on how big I want it to be (say Star Destroyer size), its much too bulky
to land on a planet for my purposes.

You should probably browse some micro capital ships from some of the
established builders, and see some of the techniques that theyve used. Over
time, you can develop your own style.
