it seems greece is not as recognizable as i thought, or perhaps ive been to my
local greek restaurant more often than i should. the walls are plastered with
prints of traditional greek architecture, most of which appear to be santorini
- blue domes, round white buildings, bell towers and stairways of dizzying
heights. few in my lug recognized my first attempt at micro. what does this
say? terrible builder of micro or she doesnt cook and eats at greek restaurants
a lot?
i believed it to be a relatively simple project considering the domes, arches
and curved pieces available, but recreating the steep, winding stairs was not
satisfactory since surrounding the jumper plate steps was next to impossible if
they did not sit at right angles. also frustrating was trying to recreate a
suitable cross for the church dome. scale would not allow me to use most
pieces, so i did without. the most fun was finishing it off with the fishing
boat. true to my mocs, there are no people around. everyone is in church.
enjoy santorini.

| (...) I love it! Having been to Thera (now the modern island Santorini), I have to say that your model really has the right look. Nicely captured with the blue tile roofs and white domes. But you could have made the cliff a little higher. Perhaps 20 (...) (19 years ago, 19-Aug-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

| (...) Hi Deborah that is a sweet micro. And that fishing boat is seriously cute! What part is that you used for the flotation ring? Is it Clikits or something? ROSCO (19 years ago, 19-Aug-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

| (...) Well done Deborah! I still think my favourite part is the boat. Throw a little SNOT into a MOC and it gets me all excited. I especially like the Clickits stud joiner as life preserver. You know how much I love Clickits. ;) J (19 years ago, 20-Aug-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

| Hi Deborah, This microscale town is beautiful. It really makes me want to visit the original. Probably my favorite individual detail is the little gate you made with grill pieces, but the color scheme and the overall shape is wonderful.
