Hi Bruce! It’s me. Pretty funny you are the one to point out my gallery, as I was inspired to exit my Dark Age and rejoin the world of Lego after a friend forwarded a link to your Lord of the Rings website. My main reason for getting back into Lego, outside of collecting the Star Wars sets, was the ability to illustrate a number of story ideas bouncing around in my head. I’m still working on that, but I hope to have something to show soon.

I built my first two MOCs (since the age of 10) for last year’s Brickfest; both were moonbase modules. One was based on an old Chinese Buddhist temple, the other was a Chinese-themed casino and hotel. I figured out half-way through Brickfest that I had spent most of my effort on the interior that no one could see. I’ll take and post pictures one of these days.

For this year’s Brickfest, I decided to try Micro. I’m probably a little too ambitious in my goal, but I’m trying to build a 2x4 baseplate layout of a slice of a futuristic city...a mix things that look familiar, because some styles are perceived as timeless, and things that look futuristic. So far, I have 4 baseplates done. Here’s the latest, finished this morning: Hillside residences.

One last thing: I’ve had a lot of help on this from my wife, Summer, and definitely share the credit with her.

Let me know what you think!

(...) Doug, that thing rocks! All of the detail! The very picture of what Micro should be! Make sure you shoot an email to Janey Cook so that she can reserve space for you. I can't wait til I can see this thing in person! -Lenny (19 years ago, 24-Jul-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)
