With 19 days left to Brickfest... I thought I would share a not so short story of what I did today.

BACKGROUND - A few of my children’s friends have taken an interest in the micro building I do. One of them even made me a few micro vehicles for my latest micro project. I was surprised when he gave them to me and said he would like to learn more about Micro building.

After thinking about it for a few days, I chose to throw a little micro building party. We had 6 guests (between the age of 10-14) plus my own two children.

I talked to them about some simple snot techniques (which of course always gets a huge laugh), a bit about scale and showed them some pictures of some of my favourite Micro’s by other AFOL. Once they new what they were going to build I let them go wild with my collection.

The creativity they showed was incredible, and I was surprised how little guidance they really needed. Once I set the standard for them, they rose above it. It was a great day for all 9 of us.

Aside from a bit of extra sorting I will have to do, I ended up having a wonderful time, a handful (literally and figuratively) of new Micro MOC for the Micro Display at Brickfest and hopefully a few AFOL in the making.

I bought each child a small set as a party favour and provided a ton of chips and pop. My favourite quote of the day... “Wow, you really Micro’d that one!” ~ which loosely translates into, wow did you ever nail that one! Now they are asking “When can we do it again?”

If anyone else is interested in making a Micro for BrickFest please check out the contest details. Micro MOC Off!

P.S. If the weather holds out I will link some pics tomorrow. Have a great night, and build well.
