Although I'm truly inspired by micro-scale building (and I'm struggling to
figure out a way to incorporate its ideals into my CAD class - i.e. scale,
selective compression, abstraction, economy, etc.) what I really wanted to
compliment you on was..

Your imaginative choice of photo background! Look at that ship braving those
whitecaps! Or is it an ice field? In either case, hurrah!

Similarly, I also loved how in this image (the minifig scaled ship):

The blue quilt/ocean serves two purposes (other than being blue and looking like
the ocean) :P

a) the way it undulates looks like waves and
b) the quilt squares look like nautical map grid squares.

I dunno, just something the designer in me appreciated, LOL.

Here's one of many tiny creations I plan to bring to BrickFest. It's a bit blocky, but then again, it's pretty small for a ship around a hundred yards long! (URL) (20 years ago, 25-Jun-04, to lugnet.build.microscale)
