Tread links for the cablecar might have been more expensive and may look a
little less elegant, but they grip the horizontal gears far more reliably than
string does horizontal pulleys, and one can span a much greater distance with
much less vertical support (or even none)with a lot less tension than one can
with string.

Hmmmm... you have made a good point... I will try out the string for this next
show but I might just have to revert to the chain.
