Look!  My first all brick mecha!!  I normally do Bionicle but I decided to
stepup and try my hand at the classic stuff.

<http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=57386>

I went to Legoland CA a couple of weeks ago and went nuts at the brick shop.
Awesome!  I couldn't decide on what colors to get until I spied the clear brick
bins. (this translucent fixation can be traced back to my childhood Micronaut
days)  I was speechless.  I thought I could do a mech in all clear.  But there
aren't that many clear parts.  Just enough to build... something.  I had to
supplement my clear stash with an order from Bricklink.  Luckily I just recieved
my order on Saturday.  So here it is.  I present to you...Phantasm.  Not too
complicated a build.  But you always remember your first.

A bit of a story-

Originally commissioned as stealth mechs in the Vbreen/Geron war, 100 years
later these mechs are now in the hands of space pirates.  They now attack the
Vbreen supply ships that have grown fat from the spoils of war. Outfitted with
quad disruptors and telsa shields they strike without warning.  And with their
new upgraded cloaking devices from unknown alien technology, are almost
impossible to detect.  Another strange feature is the installation of a single
brain pilot/computer instead of the normal organic pilot favored by so many
civilizations. Pilots beware the Phantasm!  (music builds)

That's all for now.  PLMKWYT!!

Jeff

(...) Jeff, are you feeling well? A brick mecha? :-) The wow factor of the clear elements is immense. But to be real honest, I think that's about all this one has going for it. Some nice construction elements (I particulary like the area around the (...) (21 years ago, 23-Sep-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

OMG, that is increadibly unussual! I almost can't see the construction. Limiting, but a challange none the less! I'll get you Ranjo! If I can see you/it that is! Wow! e (URL) (21 years ago, 23-Sep-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Ok, this is seriously cool. I thought the brain was brilliant. Maybe a trans helmet or dome on top of it? This sucker is hard to see, If the friction pins were trans I think I would have lost this mech entirely. cool Snow Daddy (21 years ago, 7-Oct-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

I purposely waited until I could see this one in person to comment on it. Jeff, be it brick or technic parts, you do a bang up job! This model is no different in complexity of design other than the limited parts at your disposal. Congrats on (...) (21 years ago, 12-Oct-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
