Alex,
Mech is a term that is most often seen in relation to large walking
robots in the game Battletech and later, Mechwarrior. Mecha is originally (I
think) from Japan and refers to just about any mechanical transportation, but
is most generally applied to humanoid types. Last time this question came
up, (I think, again) it was generally agreed that mecha is the least likely
to draw the attention of trademark infringement lawyers.
