HEY Tony!  I got's your mechs right here!

********story beginning************

"This is Hitman," the voice punched across the airwaves, "I’m looking for
any other Rosette Shadow company units. Over." The Snow Leopard Clan warrior
watched his instruments for any indication of movement or radio traffic. Not
getting any reaction he took to his favorite pastime, talking to himself.
"This is just great; just fantastic. We hit orbit of a supposed friendly
planet, only to be hit with incoming fire. Red alert goes up across ship,
and we get the order to drop mechs on planet. Then the drop gets botched, I
end up God knows where, on a planet for a reason I ‘have no need to know’
about." Hitman jabbed the radio’s transmit button.

"This is Hitman of the 7th Rosette Shadow Company of the Snow Leopard Clan.
Does anyone hear me?" The warrior was greeted with all too familiar empty
air static. "Well, at least I can be thankful for two things: I got rations
up the ass, and I got a nice place to hide my mech."

Hours passed, Hitman decided to cease the radio calls as it was getting him
nowhere. Instead he passed the time watching the radar and playing games on
the onboard computer. In the middle of a mindless game his radar alerted him
to five signals.

"Finally," Hitman said as he reached for the radio transmitter, "Some
friend…no, those ain’t friendly." He used his passive scanners to target one
of the passing mechs. "Aww crud, Nightlighters. If they find me, I’m toast.
Let’s hope this hiding spot lasts."

Hitman watched as the mechs started their march across the terrain. "Dang,
not good, they’re in a search pattern. They’ll find me for sure." Eyeing the
button on the video console blinking "STAND BY," Hitman tapped the button
and the mech startup routine engaged. The mechwarrior also noticed a sudden
change in the course of his five signals.

"Five marks, 2000 meters and closing. C’mon, c’mon," he egged the machine.
Watching the progress indicator slowly fade away to the targeting display
and mech status indicators. "Alright, full throttle!"

Hitman’s Butch mech stomped its way out of its forest cover and fired off
his jump jets to get over a tree line and, hopefully, put some distance
between he and his pursuers. In mid air, his mech gave alarm of a missle
lock. He watched as small dots made its way on his radar and as they got
close he jammed the controls hard. His reward was watching as all the
missles flew by impacting trees below. The Butch touched ground and Hitman
didn’t hesitate to put the mech into a run for some valleys ahead.

Touching his headset, "This is Hitman of the Snow Leopards. Does anyone read
me."

"We read you, Hitman. And you won’t be escaping us," spoke back a low and
growling voice. "All units, advance on the red mech. Cut him off before he
reaches the Mazes."

Hitman had heard of the massive interconnecting canyons of Skyneck III
called ‘the Mazes.’" They were something of a mystery. Heavy metals in the
rocks made targeting and radar use difficult, if not impossible. He’d never
seen them, until now. The nearest canyon entrance was another 1000 meters.
He’d make quickly, but the question was would it be quick enough.

Some tanks that were positioned near the canyons moved to block Hitman. The
Butch quickly targeted the closest of the armor and Hitman started using his
lasers to make slag of the guards. The tanks were easy kills, but they
slowed Hitman down.

Particle beams impacted Hitman mech’s right arm, knocking him slightly off
balance. "C’mon baby, we can do it. What, another missle lock? Lock this!"
said Hitman as he rocketed his mech into the air. While air born Hitman
turned his mech so he could see his assailants. Five mechs, all heavy. There
was no way he could match their firepower, and it would take time to punch
through their heavy armor. "Ahh, the life of a scout. Crap!" Hitman spun his
mech around again and touched down. The entrance to the canyons was a mere
250 meters out.

"Ok Hitman," his hands were beginning to sweat on the controls, "what are we
going to do once we get in the Mazes." Hitman watched as the red dots began
to get fuzzy as he got closer to the canyon opening. "We’s going to hide.
And pray. That’s what we’re going to do."

Hitman made the canyon opening and went to make the first corner. He would
have run into his salvation, but as it was, he ran under it.

"Hitman, this is Archangel. Looks like you could use some help."

"That’s about right," Hitman hadn’t expected to see any friendly units here.
As it was, he was very happy to see a DragonWolf. "Where the hell have you
been?"

"We’re linking up in the Mazes. It seems to be the safest place in this
region. Stand by while I take care of your problem."

To be continued…

More mechs coming soon too.

Good Story! Ohhhh oooooo, look at that Mech. Cool pop up Canopy. Very intersting Legs. I like the little radar dishes on the sides and how they are mounted on the round 2x2 plates. Lot's of good Red peices. I thought it was cool when I was looking (...) (22 years ago, 11-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)
