Star Wars Sets! Life on Mars too! Lot's of Click-Hindges in thoses themes. A
good place to start when building Joints like, arms and Legs. Plus get
Technic sets as well. Then buy some creator sets. They have tons of good
slopes and regular type pieces. Then buy sets with neat elements that you
would like to include into your Mecha. Mostly neat-o stuff that would look
cool and give your creation character and add features.
Finnaly, visit the Mecha Hall of Fame.

It's a great resource.
Good luck.
